BOOK DOUBLING
GAIL DOGGETT
Book Coach and Accountability Partner for Neurodivergent Writers
Empathetic support for ADHD and autistic creatives, supporting them to finally finish their books.
Writing and creativity for wired, tired minds
Hi... I’m Gail, a neurodivergent writing coach, editor, and former acquisitions editor at a Big Five publishing house. I’ve spent over two decades supporting writers at every stage of their journey, from raw first drafts to final revisions.
As a late-diagnosed ADHDer myself, I know what it’s like to feel stuck, scattered, and creatively overwhelmed. That’s why I coach with compassion, strategy, and a deep respect and understanding of how our neurodivergent brains work.
There are so many strategies, tools and tactics to get you unstuck, and to the end of your project, the magic comes from finding the right combination for you.
Whether you need help getting started, unsticking yourself mid-draft, or finally crossing the finish line. I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.

What is BookDoubling?
BookDoubling is my signature accountability and support method, designed for neurodivergent writers who know that traditional writing advice just doesn’t work for them.
Inspired by body doubling (an ADHD tool for task initiation), BookDoubling creates a supportive, co-regulated space that offers:
- Task initiation help: Get writing, editing, finishing your work
- Verbal processing: Talk through where you are, how you're stuck
- Gentle feedback: Supportive responses, without ableist language
- Motivation and momentum: we'll get you writing, and keep you writing
Come as you are: foggy, fidgety, full of ideas; or all three. Every session is 1:1 and customised to your needs.
Does this sound like you?
You’ve started multiple books but can’t finish them...
You’ve written a full draft but have no idea how to edit it...
You keep buying notebooks and planners, hoping they’ll fix the problem...
You want to write, but get overwhelmed or frozen when you try...
You’re pretty sure you’re neurodivergent (or know you are) and need a new approach to writing...
You’ve dreamed of writing a book for years and now you're wondering if you really can...
You are not alone. And you absolutely can do this with support that works for your brain
I want to help you finally write that book...
You stifle a scream every time someone asks 'So when's your book coming out?' You've been working on it for so long, perhaps even sold the idea to a publisher. You're trying to plan and outline, spend hours at your desk, but still the damn thing isn't done.
You used to love writing.
I understand firsthand how awful it feels to desperately want to take your ideas and turn them into reality, but then to struggle horribly with the process. You know all the well-known formulas and approaches. You've probably attempted Save The Cat, the Snowflake Method, Truby's 22 Steps, or the Story Grid and none of them 'worked'. Why does everyone else seem to find it so easy? [Spoiler: it's rarely 'easy' easy. But it is possible. Infinitely possible.]
I work with writers at all levels,. Whether you are just starting out, are staring down a deadline for a book that's under contract, or have many published works to your name.
And please note, you get to define yourself as a writer. It's nothing to do with whether you've finished or written a book, or whether you're published. If you write, you're a writer.
There's no shame either in getting stuck or just feeling like you can't get yourself together to do this, even though it's all that you can think about. Our beautiful neurodivergent brains are wired differently. We need to think about this differently. We require a different type of scaffolding.
I want you to tell your story.
If you're ready to try another way, with gentle guidance and support, then get in touch.
Neurodivergent brains work differently
So when it comes to writing a book, why would we do it the same way as everyone else?

Creative musings from my whizzy brain
Lovely words from lovely clients
"I've been working with Gail for about nine months now and it’s been incredibly helpful. I’m much more productive than I was and I can sit down and write even on those days where I don’t start out feeling inspired to do it."
— Juliet Clare Bell, children’s author of over 35 books and RLF Fellow
“For years, I’ve said I couldn’t write a book. It was far too big and scary a thing to do! But Gail walked me through it step by step, breaking it down and giving me so much useful feedback and tips..... I know her editorial support has made the sample pages I’ve got so far even better"
— Emma Cossey, coach for freelancers
